I received this information today from The Association of Responsible Krill harvesting companies. (ARK)

"The Association of Responsible Krill harvesting companies, ARK, brings together the krill fishing industry to foster the development of a sustainable fishery on Antarctic krill to coordinate and cooperate with the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) on the provision of research and information on krill and the krill fishery to support scientific research and educational initiatives of CCAMLR to manage the krill fishery on a sustainable basis.

in 2020, 16 million metric tons, or 20% of the marine fish catch, was processed into fishmeal and fish oil. At the same time, the fish-feed industry, franticly searching for alternative protein sources to fishmeal and fish oil from wild fish, has become keenly interested in Antarctic krill. Multiple aquaculture feed industry representatives consulted for this story confirmed that the industry is increasingly using krill as a replacement for fishmeal and fish oil."

This is what is happening in our Ocean. Diminishment of fish populations has led to this scheme to exploit krill from the sea.

First of all, the is no such thing as "responsible krill harvesting". Krill should be left alone. Krill is the foundation of the entire food supply in the sea and should be left in the sea for fish, penguins, birds and whales.

This fishery is exploiting krill to make a protein paste to feed to domestic animals. This means that whales and penguins will die for hamburgers and bacon, farm raised salmon and fur coats.

A krill fishery is just another nail in the Ocean's coffin.

The entire marine ecology of the planet is in a state of collapse. How many more non-productive meetings and conferences need to be held before the reality of the situation sinks in.

When the Ocean Dies, We All Die!

And the Ocean is dying before our eyes.
