Why is Sea Shepherd Global Partnered with Pro-whaling nations?

Last month in Slovenia, pro-whaling nations voted to support Japan in opposing a Whale Sanctuary in the South Atlantic

These pro-whaling nations included

Benin

Ivory Coast

Liberia

Tanzania

Guinea

At the Florianopolis Brazil IWC Conference in 2018 these countries voted with Japan to support Japanese whaling

Benin

Ivory Coast

Liberia

Tanzania

Guinea

Sao Tome Principe

Sea Shepherd Global is presently partnered with

Benin (Operation Guegou)

Liberia (Operation Sola Stella)

Tanzania (Operation Jodari)

Sao Tome Principe (Operation Albacore)

In 2018, former Sea Shepherd Asia Director Gary Stokes contacted Peter Hammarstedt to request that in return for the assistance Sea Shepherd was giving to these countries, could he make a request to have these countries not support Japan at the International Whaling Commission. Peter became angry with Gary Stokes for interfering with his project and Gary Stokes was fired not long after this disagreement. Gary Stokes contacted me about this and I asked Peter about it. Peter said he would look into it. I heard nothing back but either Peter did not relay our concerns or the partner countries refused to withdraw their support for Japanese whaling.

For the last three years I have been prohibited from commenting or posting about campaigns without Board approval. I am now free to point these contradictions out publicly.

It is absolutely immoral and improper for Sea Shepherd to be working in partnership with pro-whaling nations. Sea Shepherd supporters should demand that Sea Shepherd Global not work with these nations or at least insist that they not support whaling. Also with Namibia which has a mass annual slaughter of South African Fur Seals.
